I could really do without Julia Roberts‘ ultra-boring DVF black maxi dress at Spain’s premiere of Eat, Pray, Love, but there’s one thing I do like (besides Javier Bardem): her jewelry. While it’s minimal Me & Ro, I think her mix-and-match yellow gold and turquoise jewelry is an easy way to take black from blah to chic.

A lot people subconsciously think of turquoise as a summer stone, but I don’t think it’s true at all. The bold blue is perfect to perk you up during the fall months, and particularly when paired with yellow gold, it looks lush and rich. Get the Look: Rihanna

Normally, it’s hard to try to copy a style as out-there as Rihanna‘s. From the funky hairstyles to the crazy dress cutouts, she doesn’t usually do downplayed. But then she goes and tones it down while sitting courtside at the Knicks game on Monday night in NYC.

There is nothing I like better than a simple white t-shirt for showing off a great selection of jewelry. Rihanna mixes and matches several yellow gold necklaces (including what looks like two rosaries and a locket among others) with a simple pair of diamond studs.

Don’t be afraid to layer necklaces to make a bold statement. Rihanna makes a smart move by only choosing yellow gold so the look isn’t too busy. Here’s a few options to recreate her style:

If you follow Victoria Beckham at all, you’ll know she’s on the absolute cutting edge of fashion–sometimes choosing to wear things that most of us would never consider a “real life” wardrobe. But just as she has you feeling completely befuddled by her choice of footwear or handbag, she goes and totes a totally classic Hermès Birkin around town.

Here she is just yesterday at London’s Heathrow airport looking travel chic. You can never go wrong with a black Birkin, and she pairs it with another favorite accessory of mine–a bold, oversized yellow gold watch. This just goes to show you that while a Birkin may be a big investment, it is an ultimate classic that straddles the line of fashion and function perfectly.
